Results for Dioxin (TCDD)

Decreased percentage with onset of eye opening at 15 days of age; increased successful righting reflex at 5 and 6 days of age; increased successful cliff-drop aversion reflex at 7 days of age at higher dose; decreased ability to stay on a rotating rod

Subjects: Wistar rats

Chemical: Dioxin (TCDD)

Low doses tested: 0.3 or 1.0 μg/kg bw

Other doses tested: Initial dose was followed by weekly maintenance doses (at 40 percent)

Route of administration: injected subcutaneously

Exposure duration: gestational day 19 – adulthood (comparable to human prenatal development from approximately day 1 of week 10 to beyond birth)

Age of measurement: birth through adulthood

Results for Dioxin (TCDD)

Increased percentage of eyes opened at 12 through 15 days of age

Subjects: Line C (highly sensitive to TCDD) rats

Chemical: Dioxin (TCDD)

Low doses tested: 1.0 μg/kg bw

Route of administration: dissolved in corn oil and delivered orally

Exposure duration: gestational day 19 – single dose (comparable to human prenatal development from approximately day 1 of week 10 to day 1 of week 11)

Age of measurement: 40 days of age
