About TEDXOur People
THEO COLBORN, PH.D. PRESIDENTDr. Colborn is the President of TEDX, located in Paonia CO and a Professor Emeritus at the University of Florida, Gainesville. She is the author of numerous scientific publications about compounds that interfere with hormones and other chemical messengers that control development in wildlife and humans. She edited Chemically Induced Alterations in Sexual and Functional Development: The Wildlife/Human Connection, published in 1992. The information from this volume and numerous subsequent scientific publications was popularized in her 1996 book, Our Stolen Future, co-authored with Dianne Dumanoski and J. Peterson Myers now published in 18 languages. Dr. Colborn’s work has prompted the enactment of new laws around the world and redirected the research of academicians, governments, and the private sector. CAROL KWIATKOWSKI, PH.D. EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR and SENIOR RESEARCH ASSOCIATEDr. Kwiatkowski has over 15 years experience in statistical analysis and study design. In addition to running the office of TEDX, she is responsible for evaluating scientific studies for inclusion in database spreadsheet products offered by TEDX. Dr. Kwiatkowski studied Cognitive Science at the University of Denver, where she received her Ph.D. in 1995. Prior to joining TEDX, she was an assistant professor at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, where she published numerous peer-reviewed journal articles on behavioral interventions for AIDS prevention. Curriculum Vitae (PDF) LYNN CARROLL, PH.D. SENIOR SCIENTISTDr. Carroll received her Ph.D. in Entomology from Texas A&M University. Prior to employment at TEDX she worked for Dr. Colborn as Database Manager, Wildlife and Contaminants Program, World Wildlife Fund, and as a Postdoctoral Fellow and Technical Information Specialist on adult and larval fruit fly expert system development at the USDA Systematic Entomology Laboratory, Washington, D.C. She brings a diverse background in Anthropology, Vertebrate Biology, Systematics, and Computer Science to the work of searching and organizing the scientific literature relevant to endocrine disruption. Curriculum Vitae (PDF) JOHANNA ROCHESTER, PH.D. RESEARCH ASSOCIATEDr. Rochester received her M.S. and Ph.D. from the University of California, Davis, where she studied the effects of natural and man-made environmental estrogens on wild birds. Thus, she has a special interest in EDCs’ affects on wildlife and ecosystems. As a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Colorado, Boulder, Dr. Rochester studied how reproductive brain hormones are maintained in adult mammals, and the implications for human reproductive health. She currently works to review and analyze the growing body of scientific literature on the physiological effects of EDCs. Curriculum Vitae (PDF) ASHLEY BOLDEN, M.S. RESEARCH ASSOCIATEIn 2009 Ms. Bolden graduated from the University of Colorado- Boulder with a M.S. in Integrative Physiology. There she studied in the Comparative Environmental Endocrinology Laboratory. Her graduate work described reproductive and behavioral changes which occur to fish exposed to waste- treated water effluent which was thought to contain chemicals with endocrine disrupting properties. Subsequently, she was part of a research team in the Othropaedic department at Denver Health Medical Center investigating the role of natural antibodies in the inflammatory response following closed head injury. Curriculum Vitae (PDF) KIM SCHULTZ, B.S. RESEARCH ASSISTANTMs. Schultz graduated with honors from Colorado State University in 1997 with a degree in International Agronomy. In her past work with the US Forest Service and as a Research Associate with the Colorado State University’s Western Colorado Research Center, Ms. Schultz obtained a strong scientific background in both natural resources and agricultural research. She has co-published three articles in the field of organic agriculture and native plant production. She joined TEDX in the spring of 2009. Curriculum Vitae (PDF) CHRISTINA RIBBENS, B.A. BUSINESS ADMINISTRATORMs. Ribbens received a bachelor’s degree in biology from Western State College of Colorado in 1992. Prior to working at TEDX, she owned and operated a small resort in the mountains of western Colorado for 15 years. She also worked as an accounting assistant at an electrical cooperative.
